Democrats Deliberately Trying to Hide Porkulus Bill Details
Following up on Wapiti’s post below, here’s a stunt by the Dems to keep people from learning what’s in the bill:
Democratic staffers released the final version of the stimulus bill at about 11 p.m. last night after delaying the release for hours to put it into a format which people cannot “search” on their home computers.
Instead of publishing the bill as a regular internet document — which people can search by “key words” and otherwise, the Dems took hours to convert the final bill from the regular searchable format into “pdf” files, which can be read but not searched.
Three of the four .pdf files had no text embedded, just images of the text, which did not permit text searches of the bill. That move to conceal the bill’s provisions had not been remedied this morning at the time of publication of this article. (You can find the entire bill on the House Appropriations [http://appropriations.house.gov] website.)
Gee, now why would they go to those lengths?
Maybe because this bill is nothing more than a lefty power grab and payback to the groups that helped them take power?
Anyone that cares about honesty and transparency in government should be calling the Congressional Democrats and demanding the text of this bill (somewhere around 1,075 pages printed, I believe) in a searchable format.
Update and a small mea culpa: It appears that the files now posted to the House Appropriations website listed above are searchable. The mea culpa is for my error in not verifying for myself whether or not the files were searchable at the time I posted this. However, in my own defense, I will point out that there has been more than enough time since the original Human Events article (linked above) was posted for staffers to have quietly replaced the unsearchable versions of the files with searchable ones.
Bottom line: At this time, it cannot be determined whether or not the original article was in error.
