That’s Not Pork, That’s Ham!
Drudge is having lots of fun highlighting some of the most egregious expenditures from the so-called “stimulus:”
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $2,531,600 FOR 'HAM, WATER ADDED, COOKED, FROZEN, SLICED, 2-LB'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $1,191,200 FOR '2 POUND FROZEN HAM SLICED'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $351,807 FOR 'REPLACE AND UPGRADE THE DUMBWAITER'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $1,562,568 FOR 'MOZZARELLA CHEESE'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $5,708,260 FOR 'PROCESS CHEESE'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $16,784,272 FOR 'CANNED PORK'...
RECOVERY.GOV // AWARDED: $1,444,100 FOR 'REPAIR DOOR BLDG 5112'...

So you see, it’s not pork… it’s ham!
You Don’t Need To Know How Bad Obamanomics Has Made Things
Uh-oh… here we go with the Obama Administration starting to bury bad news so it doesn’t affect their leftist agenda:
WASHINGTON – The White House is being forced to acknowledge the wide gap between its once-upbeat predictions about the economy and today’s bleak landscape.
The administration’s annual midsummer budget update is sure to show higher deficits and unemployment and slower growth than projected in President Barack Obama’s budget in February and update in May, and that could complicate his efforts to get his signature health care and global-warming proposals through Congress.
The release of the update — usually scheduled for mid-July — has been put off until the middle of next month, giving rise to speculation the White House is delaying the bad news at least until Congress leaves town Aug. 7 on its summer recess.
The administration is pressing for votes before then on its $1 trillion health care initiative, which lawmakers are arguing over how to finance.
So, let’s see here… there’s a big vote on health care coming up, and the White House is delaying releasing this until after that vote? Yeah, I can see why people would think he might be deliberately delaying it.
Oh, and then there’s this…
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs on Monday blamed the delay entirely on the “transition from one administration to the next” and not from any attempt to deceive Congress.
“The notion that this is somehow out of the ordinary seems somewhat silly,” he told reporters.
I don’t remember Bush having to delay the report in his first year in office… neither Bush, in fact. Nor Clinton, nor Reagan (I was too young at the start of Carter’s term to remember stuff like that).
If any Obama defender can prove that any of the above Presidents had to delay releasing economic information their first year because of the “transition from one administration to the next,” I’d be happy to see the evidence… note, I said evidence, not just claims without proof.
New Blog Feature: Ratings for Posts and Comments
Just a quick heads up to everyone… I’ve enabled WordPress’ new Ratings feature to both blog posts and comments. The one for blog posts is a 5-star system, 1 star being the lowest, and 5 the highest, while the one for comments is a simple thumbs-up or thumbs-down. However, both of these can be changed to either style, so we’ll see what reader opinion says… leave a comment if you’d like to see one of them changed to the other style.
