Members of U.S. Congress are frustrated at the attempts of concerned Americans to put a stop to government-run health care. No, those Americans are not opposed to health care reform. They are opposed to a government takeover of our health care system. However, there are many in U.S. Congress who insist that concerned Americans are “swastika-displaying astroturf”.
To add to the contempt some politicians have for the American people, here is what one congressman mentions about anti-government-controlled health care protestors:
I believe Congressman Brian Baird is afraid a “Tim McVeigh” type might just detonate an explosive device at a town hall meeting. That is why he has been scheduling and holding town hall teleconferences, instead of showing up in person. Way to go, Congressman Baird. If somebody starts yelling at you, all you have to do is press “mute”.
An angry response from another congressman:
Congressman Scott, I thought it was your job to answer questions from your constituents. Oh my mistake, certain questions can only be answered by scheduled appointment, even thought the constituent you yelled at tried several times to schedule an appointment with you.
In Scott’s defense, he was recently the target of a hate group who vandalized his Smyrna, Georgia district office [Article - Swastika painted at Georgia congressman's office]. This is unacceptable behavior and gives people who are undecided about health care reform the wrong impression about conservatives and other opponents of government-run health care. This only gives folks like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama more ammunition for their propaganda machine to use against government-run health care opponents.
Personal attacks and acts of hatred directed at/toward certain groups of people that are perpetrated by bigoted, deranged, mentally deficient, emotionally unstable losers and/or dregs of society should not be tolerated, period! It has no place in the health care reform debate and detracts from the whole point of having civil discourse. All those people are doing is proving Congressman Baird to be correct in his thinking. It also assists in furthering the cause of leftists who want to use any crisis or opportunity they can to paint their opponents as the “bad guys” and fulfill their Marxist agendas.
To put it another way, leave the hate-mongering and vicious attacks to the leftists. That’s what they do when they are desperate and that’s what they do when they’re losing a cause. No purpose is served when those who claim to be conservative or peaceful engage in despicable acts.
