Obama Reveals His Hand On Reconciliation

While it was not acceptable to Obama during the G.W. Bush years, it is now just fine and dandy that statist Democrats use the reconciliation process to cram ObamaCare down our throats. He did not go out and say the word “reconciliation”, but he did utter the words “up-or-down vote”—code for reconciliation [Article - Healthcare reform: Obama nudges Congress toward reconciliation].

In the words of Senator Robert “Sheets” Byrd (D-WV):

I very rarely agree with Senator Byrd, but in this instance I have to say he is right.

When has reconciliation been used and under what circumstances?  Please refer to the following:

Unprecedented

Back in 2003, many statist Democrats in U.S. Congress had fecal apoplexies when the Republicans decided to use reconciliation to overcome Democrat obstructionism.  When faced with more Democrat obstructionism and filibusters in 2005, Congressional Republicans also threatened to use a form of reconciliation called the “nuclear option”, which sent statist Democrats (Obama included) into a frenzy of fits, tantrums, and virtual spastic conniptions.

One of the most outspoken Democrats during that 2005 congressional session was Senator Robert Byrd, who said:

A “nuclear option” is targeting the Senate. No, this isn’t some terrorist plot. Rather, some in the Senate are considering dropping a legislative bomb that threatens the rights to dissent, to unlimited debate and to freedom of speech.

Byrd further goes on:

President Bush has renominated 20 men and women to the federal bench, seven of whom the Senate rejected last year. To force a vote on these nominees, some senators are hoping to launch a parliamentary weapon aimed at the heart of open and extended debate. By a simple majority vote, a Senate filibuster on judicial appointments would be “nuked” for all time.

Before, during, and after which the proverbial march of enraged Democrat penguins ensued:

It’s interesting that statist Democrats back in 2005 are so concerned about the U.S. Constitution and constitutional rights.  Now that they have been in power, all of that concern has suddenly disappeared.

Now statists in U.S. Congress are in the process of using reconciliation to pass an economy-killing health care reform bill that nobody wants.  Add to the fact that there are extreme statists in both houses of Congress who don’t think the bill goes far enough!  Those are the ones who want nationalized, socialized, “public option” health care.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is nothing more than an unprecedented power grab being made by Obama and leftist politicians in U.S. Congress.  They do not care about your or my health.  They do not care whether we have a job or not.  They do not care whether we can afford their delusional, near-communist utopian vision of what they think the United States should be or not.

For the past three years now, the lunatics have had the keys to the asylum.  They are going to do their worst to unlock every Pandora’s box of grief and destruction that they can and while they can…much to the suffering of the American people.

Remember, reconciliation during a time when radical leftists weren’t in power was evil, fascist, tyrannical, and unconstitutional.  Now that radical leftists are in power, reconciliation is a good thing…a very good thing.
