Romney Borrows A Reagan Line

The line is probably one of the most important for Reagan’s victory over Jimmy Carter: “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?

“Four years ago Barack Obama dazzled us in front of Greek columns with sweeping promises of hope and change,” Romney says in his remarks. “But after we came down to earth, after the celebration and parades, what do we have to show for three and a half years of President Obama?”

In an homage to the political mantra of Ronald Reagan – “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” – Romney sought to appeal to average Americans.

Mia Love: Perhaps The First Black Republican Woman In Congress

Well, this should give the lefties who love to shove people into groups apoplexy:

Mia Love won the GOP nomination for the 4th Congressional District race Saturday at the Utah Republican Convention, scoring a major upset after wowing the crowd with a roof-raising speech at the South Towne Expo Center in Sandy.

The daughter of Haitian immigrants, Mrs. Love took 70.4 percent of the delegate vote, well in excess of the 60 percent required to avoid a primary runoff under Utah’s unique rules. She defeated former state legislator Carl Wimmer, who had been viewed as the heavy favorite. He mustered only 29.6 percent of the vote.

The War On Terror Is Over?

So says a senior State Department official:

It is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists. ”The war on terror is over,” one senior State Department official who works on Mideast issues told me. “Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism.”

Catholics Planning Two Weeks Of Protest Against Obama

Looks like the Obama Administration’s war on religion has awakened the sleeping giant, and filled him with a terrible resolve (with all due respect to Admiral Yamamoto).

Earlier this month, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops called for two weeks of public protest in June and July against what it sees as growing government encroachment on religious freedom.

The protests are expected to include priests and nuns and thousands of Catholic parishioners. Some activists expect civil disobedience, which could lead to powerful images of priests and nuns being led away in hand restraints.
