Why Should The GOP Show Up At The Obama Health Care Summit?

President Obama will be staging a televised production known as a “health care summit”.  To be sure, the leftists in attendance will deliver their spoon-fed talking points and make sure to mention the GOP as being the party of “no” at least 100 times or more (exaggeration?) [Article - Let's scream at each other about health reform].

If leftists like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, et al want to use the summit as a platform to attack and smear the GOP and I think it would be a mistake on the Republicans’ part if they don’t think that is what will happen, I say we should let them spout talking points given to them by their left-wing base and rehash worn-out rhetoric from the past year for all the viewers to see and hear.

What the Republicans need to do is be concise, direct, and non-confrontational.  They should state their case before the American people and offer up their ideas, which have been constantly turned down by Obama and congressional Democrats.  The Obama administration has been so kind as to post them on the White House’s web site, so let’s see if Obama can put his money where his mouth is [A Bipartisan Meeting on Health Reform].

It shouldn’t take long for the Republicans to find out if the “summit” is just a forum to espouse leftist propaganda and Republican-bashing sputum.  If that turns out to be the case, they need to stand up, turn toward the door, and walk right out.

Going Nuclear: Health Care (Insurance) Reform Legislation

With conservative and moderate Republicans and Democrats being opposed to a public “option” being included in any health care (insurance) reform legislation, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has threatened to use reconciliation or the “nuclear” option to ram health care (insurance) reform legislation down America’s collective throat [Article - Reid Threatens 'Nuclear Option' to Pass Health Care Reform as Panel Starts Work].

What’s more, a draft of the U.S. Senate’s health care (insurance) reform legislation will not be available for the public to read and research. So much for transparency [Press Release - 1. Bunning Introduces Transparency Resolution | 2. Bunning: Democrats Are Intent On Keeping Americans In The Dark].

There has been talk of passage of a watered-down bill that would leave the way open for any public “option” amendments or other amendments that would receive stiff opposition if they were inserted in committee [Article - 1. Go ahead all of you power-hungry, self-serving, leftist politicians—force through legislation that the American people don’t want [Article - Reconciliation 101: A "Nuclear" Abuse of Power]. I’m sure most if not all of you know that you are going to be committing political suicide. You claim to care about the wants and needs of the American people. If you continue to defy the will of the people, with elections coming up, the people will show just how much they care about you.

Ignored: H.R. 3400 – Empowering Patients First Act

Yet again more from the so-called party of “No” and the party with no fresh ideas. Another conservative health care reform bill, submitted to the U.S. House floor back in July, that was referred to committee, but has since then made it to the committee scrap heap along with H.R. 3218 – Improving Health Care for All Americans Act:

H.R. 3400 – Empowering Patients First Act or Help Efficient, Accessible, Low-cost, Timely Healthcare (HEALTH) Act of 2009

Conveniently, House leftists and the MIA (Media In Absentia) didn’t give another conservative bill (268 pages total) one ounce of consideration or air time [Bill Tracking - H.R. 3400: Empowering Patients First Act]. More of the same old worn-out conservative/Republican ideas? Oh that’s right, no public or government “option” in its contents. A bill that actually empowers the people, giving a patient the freedom of choice and taking personal responsibility for his or her own health care. Also contained in the legislation are provisions for tort reform, coverage for every American citizen, no coverage for illegal aliens, less of a tax burden to the American taxpayer and more cost control regulations governing the health insurance industry [Press Release - Putting Patients First!].

Compared to the monstrosity known as the  over 1,100-page government-run health care bill (H.R. 3200 – America’s Affordable Health Choices Act), which includes the creation of at least 54 government agencies, government-educated, trained and paid physicians; tax increases to pay for such expansion, including all of the procedures to be covered and paid for, no tort reform (besides, you can’t sue the government), coverage for illegals, vaguely-defined government “exchanges”, equally vague descriptions of the various boards and panels a patient must refer and/or report to, mandates on patients for government-approved health care coverage, mandatory employer coverage, encouraging “competition” among the various health insurance companies, which is really no competition at all when they won’t be able to compete with government coverage, penalties for non-compliance or “opting out” of the public “option” and since government-run health care as it is described in H.R. 3200 will increase in cost over a short period of time, health care rationing will occur, I don’t know why leftists in the U.S. House of Representatives would want to make legislation any simpler.

Ignored: H.R. 3218 – Improving Health Care For All Americans Act

More from the so-called party of “No” and the party with no fresh ideas. A conservative health care reform bill, submitted to the U.S. House floor back in July, that was referred to committee, but has since then made it to the committee scrap heap:

H. R. 3218 – Improving Health Care for All Americans Act

Well now, I wonder why House leftists and the MIA (Media In Absentia) didn’t give this conservative bill (all 24 pages) any consideration or air time. I know, it contains the same old worn-out conservative/Republican ideas and it was completely overshadowed by the over 1,100-page government-run health care bill (H.R. 3200 – America’s Affordable Health Choices Act) that made it to the House floor [Press Release - Bill expands access to health insurance with tax credits, aid to states | Article - 1. Climate Change: Obama Administration Knew About High Cost Of Cap And Trade

It appears the Obama administration knew about the high costs of cap and trade. In the U.S. Treasury Department’s report to the Competitive Enterprise Institute, several omissions or blacked-out words have been found. Was the information in the report so embarrassing and damaging to President Obama that he and his administration cajoled or even forced the Treasury Department into making sure that nobody knew about it?

Remember:

Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, the Treasury Department’s report had to be released; however, I guess the FOIA doesn’t mention what condition the report has to be in [Article - 1. Cap-and-Trade Memos Fire Up the Skeptics | 2. Cap And Trade Redux: $1,761 Annually Per Family? Or Not?].

So much for transparency and “change you can believe in”. More Chicago-style politics at work here, ladies and gentlemen.

Treasury Department – Climate Change Bill Could Cost American Families $1,761 A Year

The anti-Obama, right-wing, conservative (sarc-off) U.S. Department of the Treasury released information on how much H.R. 2998 – American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 would cost each American family [Article - Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year].

The U.S. House already passed H.R. 2998 and the U.S. Senate is still considering and examining it. Unless the Senate waters it down or rejects it outright, get ready to dig deep into your pockets, America! Save the planet! Reduce your carbon footprint! Hope and change! Yes we can! Sacrifice! Sacrifice!

Congresswoman Waters Suggests Probes Of Demonstrations For Racists

Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) wants to know what conservatives and TEA party demonstrators really think. She very truly does. As a matter of fact, she thinks the MIA (Media In Absentia) should probe TEA parties, conservative rallies and other functions to seek out and confront people…to find out how racist they really are [Article - Waters: Probe 'birthers and the teabaggers' at rallies for racist views]. This of course stems from the Joe Wilson incident that occurred last week during President Obama’s address to U.S. Congress. Take a listen (still video with audio) to Congresswoman Waters:

As a reminder, Congresswoman Waters’ views on government-run health care opponents are already known; therefore, it is logical to assume that she holds a similar opinion of conservatives as well:

I believe she has a motive behind her madness, folks.

Wade Rathke Defends ACORN – Blasts Conservatives And Fox News

Wade Rathke, ACORN’s co-founder and former chief organizer, blasts conservatives and Fox News for “unfair” coverage of and said to “be careful and fair about how it looks at the organization’s work.” Fox News reports:

Rathke has repeatedly blasted the news media and conservative groups for intentionally targeting ACORN because of its progressive agenda. In a posting on his “Chief Organizer Blog,” Rathke said the Census Bureau’s decision to break ties with ACORN showed “how willing the Obama administration is open to a cave-in to the conservatives on false pretenses on a completely fake ‘issue.’”

“This is all just more reputational McCarthyism as the rightwing and Republicans attack ACORN,” he wrote.

[Article - ACORN Co-Founder Defends Group's Integrity, Blasts 'Unfair' Critics].

That’s the problem. The news coverage and investigations are truthful and fair—that’s what is driving Rathke and those like him absolutely nuts. ACORN Investigation In San Bernardino: Shocking Footage And Admission By ACORN Worker

Yet another undercover investigation by James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles involving child prostitution. This time they went to the left coast: San Bernardino, California. Is there any different advice given by the workers there? Let’s find out:

Wow! Shocking! The information does not change. It’s the same advice and much, much more for Mr. O’Keefe and Miss Giles. I guess it’s not an “east coast thing”. Tresa Kaelke, the ACORN worker in the video and being a former prostitute herself, empathizes with the “prostitute” portrayed by Hannah Giles. She is so understanding and helpful, being a free-thinking product of the 60s generation. She also freely discloses all of the politicians (even listing them by name) she lobbies for. Oh, but she doesn’t stop there. She goes on to reveal little tidbits about her past life and being married to an abusive husband, detailing that she…killed…him…in self-defense…. Continue reading
