Former U.S. Postal Service Governor Alan Kessler pressured postal executives to scuttle a planned property purchase that would have cost a friend millions of dollars, according to a report from the Office of Inspector General. The IG also found that the Postal Service general counsel, Mary Anne Gibbons, failed to act as she should have to halt Kessler’s actions and report them to the IG.
As if Weinergate wasn’t enough, we now have Wugate… or something like that.
A distraught young woman called U.S. Rep. David Wu’s Portland office this spring, accusing him of an unwanted sexual encounter, according to multiple sources.

Being mired in accusations and allegations of criminal activity, ACORN has suspended advising clients until after an independent review is completed.
ACORN’s chief executive Bertha Lewis stated that she was “ordering a halt to any new intakes into ACORN’s service programs until completion of an independent review.” She further stated:
“ACORN’s independent Advisory Council will help select an independent auditor/reviewer no later than September 18th to review all of the systems and processes called into question by the videos.”

The Advisory Council includes John Podesta, president of the liberal Center for American Progress; Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a former lieutenant governor of Maryland; Andrew Stern, international president of Service Employees International Union; Henry Cisneros, a former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; John Banks, vice president of Government Relations Con Ed; and Eric Eve, senior vice president of Global Consumer Group, Community Relations, of Citigroup.

Wade Rathke, ACORN’s co-founder and former chief organizer, blasts conservatives and Fox News for “unfair” coverage of and said to “be careful and fair about how it looks at the organization’s work.” Fox News reports:
Rathke has repeatedly blasted the news media and conservative groups for intentionally targeting ACORN because of its progressive agenda. In a posting on his “Chief Organizer Blog,” Rathke said the Census Bureau’s decision to break ties with ACORN showed “how willing the Obama administration is open to a cave-in to the conservatives on false pretenses on a completely fake ‘issue.’”
“This is all just more reputational McCarthyism as the rightwing and Republicans attack ACORN,” he wrote.

That’s the problem. The news coverage and investigations are truthful and fair—that’s what is driving Rathke and those like him absolutely nuts. Wow! Shocking! The information does not change. It’s the same advice and much, much more for Mr. O’Keefe and Miss Giles. I guess it’s not an “east coast thing”. Tresa Kaelke, the ACORN worker in the video and being a former prostitute herself, empathizes with the “prostitute” portrayed by Hannah Giles. She is so understanding and helpful, being a free-thinking product of the 60s generation. She also freely discloses all of the politicians (even listing them by name) she lobbies for. ACORN, President Obama’s “community organizing” agency of choice, in the face of mounting scandals and corruption, have applied for more government funds [Article - ACORN wants another $6 million despite scandals]. In other words, taxpayer money.
ACORN has access to, but may not qualify for over $8 billion dollars of “stimu-less” money [Video - Who in Congress Is Helping ACORN Grow? | Article - 1. We’ll find out if somebody in Congress will wise up and think twice before approving any application for funding from ACORN until the organization is thoroughly investigated.

The City of Baltimore and the State of Maryland may prosecute video makers/freelance investigators James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles for doing something the state-run media should have been doing [Article - Maryland May Prosecute ACORN Sting Video Makers]. Fox News is the only news agency to give even the slightest attention to the investigation Mr. O’Keefe and Miss Giles performed, uncovering legally questionable activities involving workers from both the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. ACORN offices. We’ll see how the leftist “main stream” media spins this one. Right now, they are giving next to nothing as far as coverage of this developing scandal is concerned.
After speaking to a person who is well-versed in the application and enforcement of state law, according to the interpretation of Maryland state statutes, the man and woman who posed as a pimp and prostitute in both the Baltimore and Washington, D.C. offices of ACORN in the commission of an investigation, did not commit illegal acts and should not be charged with a crime. There is legal precedence for this and the Maryland statutes have been scrutinized in a well-known case of the past [Reference - A Summary of Maryland's Interception Law]. It should be brought out that the statutes covered in this post are Maryland state statutes and do not cover the City of Baltimore or Washington, D.C. local and/or municipal statutes.

ACORN is threatening legal action against the investigators/filmmakers and Fox News who exposed corruption at two ACORN offices. It appears that the City of Baltimore and ACORN are both comparing notes, as ACORN is accusing filmmaker James O’Keefe and independent investigator Hannah Giles of committing a felony [Article - Filmmaker Demands Apology From ACORN for Claiming Undercover Video 'Doctored'].
This is just an effort to deflect attention away from the real issue, that being the fact that they actually were advising people on how to conceal an illegal underage prostitution operation. ACORN is no stranger to charges of corruption and criminal investigation. I suppose Mr. O’Keefe and Miss Giles could have gone into the ACORN offices and said, “Hello. We are undercover investigators posing as a pimp and prostitute. We are here to find out if there is legally questionable activity going on within the ACORN organization. Will you permit us to record video and audio as we carry out our investigation?”
Mr. O’Keefe has vowed to fight ACORN telling them to “Bring it on”. Now that ACORN is pushing back, state-run media has enough material to spin the information into hit pieces against the investigators and Fox News.
