Democratic Senators Up For Re-Election Might Vote To Repeal Death Panel

Elections have consequences, as several people have said. And sometimes those consequences come before the election, as politicians scramble to protect themselves from the wrath of the voters.

The House is expected to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board next week, putting pressure on the Senate to follow suit. While the bill has broad bipartisan support in the House, no Senate Democrats have so far signed onto repeal legislation despite coming under increasing pressure to do so.

The key phrase there is “so far.” They’re being pressured by the upcoming elections.

Ron Paul Supporters Disrupt MO Caucus Before Votes Cast

Stay classy, Paul supporters:

A caucus in the gymnasium at Francis Howell North High School in St. Peters was shut down after about a half hour of boisterous disputes, some of it over a caucus rule barring videotaping and other recording.

Supporters of presidential candidate Ron Paul repeatedly yelled objections to decisions made by caucus organizers.

McCaskill Attacked 2004 Primary Opponent… For Using Private Jet!

From the “do as I say, not as I do files” comes this entry from Claire McCaskill:

My colleague Dave Catanese reported last week that Senator Claire McCaskill, seven years before coming under fire for her use, and government reimbursement, of a private jet, ran a tough and successful campaign against the incumbent Democratic governor whose key points included … attacks on his use of a private jet.

Just more Democrat hypocrisy… “don’t vote for my opponent because of his private jet, but, hey, just ignore the fact that I have one myself… that I’m not paying the taxes on until I get caught at it.”

Another Democrat With Tax Troubles

This time it’s Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO).

In a conference call Monday afternoon, McCaskill revealed that after her own review of the plane’s records, she had not paid personal property taxes on the aircraft over the past four years.

“I have discovered that the personal property taxes on the plane have not been paid.  There should have been a reporting to the county of the existence of this plane.   There are people I could blame for this, but I know better. I take full responsibility,” McCaskill said to reporters, after revealing she had conducted her own audit of all 89 flights she had taken.

“This was a mistake, It should have been reported in Missouri.  It will be paid in Missouri today,” she said.

McCaskill said she would be sending a check for $287,273 to St. Louis County Monday for the back taxes she owed between 2007 and 2010.  She also said she had campaign lawyers looking into the flights to determine if any more in-kind contributions needed to be reported to be in compliance.

What is it with the members of the Party of Tax The Rich not paying their own taxes?

The Assassination Attempt You Haven’t Heard Of

until now, that is:

In September 2010 Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon was scheduled to speak at Penn ValleyCommunity College in Kansas City.

At some point, wearing black clothes and a bullet-proof vest, 22 year-old Casey Brezik bolted out of a classroom, knife in hand, and slashed the throat of a dean.  As he would later admit, he confused the dean with Nixon.

So, why wasn’t this splashed all over the evening news?

Well, it’s not because of the party of the intended victim… Nixon, name notwithstanding, is a Democrat.

However, it might just have to do with the politics of the would-be assassin:

On his [Facebook] wall postings, Brezik ranted, “How are we the radical(s) (left) to confront the NEW RIGHT, if we avoid confrontation all together?”

So, even the most skilled media narrative would have a really hard time making Brezik a Tea Partier. So, the story (which does, indeed, appear in Missouri news accounts) was quietly fenced in so it never got outside of Missouri.

And some people still try to deny there’s bias in the media.
